19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
