Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
